‘Gravity’s Law’ is a short film by Matt McDermott based on a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke.
Commissioned by Channel 4 Random Acts.
'To fall, patiently to trust our heaviness'
Inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem ‘Gravity’s Law’, McDermott taps into themes of meditation and nature in a deliberate response to the overload of information in modern society.
He was drawn to The Barbican Centre and estate because of its otherworldly quality and achieves a sense of calm with his long freefalling shots against the brutalist architecture.
‘Gravity’s Law’ is featured at numerous festivals and on prominent industry blogs.
